Every year, American networks and cable channels order pilots to be produced from the hundreds of pitches they receive. By springtime, these pilots have been produced and programming decisions are made, with production beginning in earnest shortly after. In those few weeks between, lots of decisions are made - including those that shape the soundscape of the television season for the year ahead! This mission is scheduled to coincide with the announcement of the fall lineups, creating opportunity to develop relationships when music for synch is in the highest demand.

Join us in Los Angeles during those key weeks, and hear first-hand about the music placement opportunities for this new programming.

CIMA's The Ground Floor: Canadian Synch Mission to Pilot Season in Hollywood will be taking place from May 19-22, 2015 and includes the following:

  • Funding via reimbursement of up to 50% of travel-related (economy air, ground transportation) and accommodation/per diem expenses for up to 10 applicants.
  • A guide to existing and new television shows, and the music decision-makers associated with each will be distributed to registrants ahead of the mission. There will be a meet and greet opportunity on the day of arrival to put the information in this guide to action.
  • 4 studio/network visits are planned to meet with music teams and discuss their current and upcoming music needs.
  • A less-formal social networking opportunity where participants can get the opportunity to forge new relationships and cement existing ones.

This mission is limited to 10 companies, and each company will be limited to 1 participant. CIMA members have a discounted rate of $995 CDN, while the non-member fee is $1495 CDN.

CIMA will reserve positions for companies in the order in which their completed applications are received. Please note, the applications should demonstrate that the company meets the following priorities:

  • This opportunity is best suited to companies representing extensive and diverse catalogues.
  • Companies should be seeking to make solid connections with the music supervision teams at major networks and studios.
  • This opportunity would be particularly beneficial to companies who currently do not have US representation.
