The Canadian Music Café, presented by the Canadian Music Publishers Association (CMPA) and the Canadian Independent Music Association (CIMA), today announced an impressive lineup of artists who will take the stage in its 8th annual showcase. The Café will take place September 12-13 at the historic Gladstone Hotel during the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF)®.

Guests of the Café can look forward to sets from music festival favourite Young Empires, French-Canadian pop auteur Charlotte Cardin, folk songbird Rose Cousins and JUNO-nominated Hannah Georgas, among others.

The Canadian Music Café brings together fresh Canadian talent and industry professionals for potential song placements in TV, film, advertising and video games. This year, the Café received a record number of submissions from all over the country and selected 10 Canadian artists to perform to a room of music supervisors, producers and filmmakers from all over the world.

“As the multimedia landscape continues to evolve we recognize the chance Canadian artists have to diversify their music through different platforms and we thrive on helping to facilitate those opportunities,” says Jodie Ferneyhough, CMPA President. “Canada is a hot bed of musical talent and the Canadian Music Café during TIFF is the perfect place to share and connect that talent with the world.”

“CIMA is proud to once again be a part of the Canadian Music Café, which provides our talented independent artists a unique opportunity to showcase their music and their artistry to influential professionals from the media industries,” says Stuart Johnston, President of CIMA. “We are thrilled that the Café will feature a very strong lineup of artists representing Canada from coast to coast.”

This year’s lineup of artists will join Café alumni, including City and Colour, Dear Rouge, Martha Wainwright, Scott Helman, Donovan Woods, Buck 65 and Arkells, whose music has been placed in dozens of domestic and international film and TV productions.
