The Dead South Road Gold Plaque

Toronto, ON – The Canadian Independent Music Association (CIMA) is proud to announce that The Dead South is the latest recipient of our prestigious Road Gold certification. The band received its framed Road Gold certification at a private event in celebration of their latest album, Good Company, out now on Curve Music.

Based in Regina, this four-piece acoustic ensemble has brought their unique brand of toe-tapping bluegrass and folk to audiences all over Canada, and all over the world. From showcasing at Canadian Music Week and Reeperbahn in 2014 to playing festivals like the Regina Folk Festival, Ness Creek Music Festival, and JUNO Fest, The Dead South’s love of the road is unparalleled. The band just wrapped up a European tour, and will be continuing onwards through Western Canada for the next few weeks. For tour dates and a full biography, please click here.

The Dead South says, "We are truly excited and honoured to receive this Road Gold award from CIMA, especially since it represents all the great shows we have done for our fans and also the new fans we have made along the way."

"As an artist manager, the goal is always to get the act to the next level, so there is no greater feeling than seeing the artist you work with be rewarded for their incredibly hard work. And of course, it's also great to be part of the success," says Brian Hetherman, Cerberus Management/Curve Music. "Thank you to CIMA for creating an award that acknowledges a band's efforts of touring across this country, and highlighting the work of agents as well."

“On behalf of CIMA, we wish to congratulate The Dead South on this wonderful achievement,” says CIMA President Stuart Johnston. “The band has put in many hard hours of touring and racked up lots of mileage on the road. Earning CIMA's Road Gold certification has proven beyond a doubt that The Dead South is one of Canada's most talented, hardest working touring bands in the country.”

Launched in the summer of 2015, Road Gold is a certification program that establishes a new industry standard for success that celebrates accomplishments in Canadian touring. As the latest recipient of Road Gold, The Dead South join USS, Big Wreck, Matt Andersen and Made Them Lions as Road Gold certified artists.

The Road Gold certification is awarded by CIMA through an online application process. To view the Road Gold criteria, please click here. To apply for Road Gold, please click here.
