The Jonny Debt Band (Sugar Moon Music) (Hamilton, ON) (Rock)

Road warriors and prolific song writers thrive on the energy of live shows and interaction with their fans. Mario Peluso & les Hobos Hurleurs (Artic Records)

Within eight years, Mario Peluso’s original songs have been covered by the likes of Isabelle Boulay, Laurence Jalbert and Véronic DiCaire amongst others, and has six albums to his credit. Peluso’s songs are deeply embedded in the roots of Quebec’s Témiscamingue countryside, reflecting a folk rock Americana feel complete with harmonica.

Mimi O’Bonsawin (EMG) (Sudbury, ON) (Singer/Songwriter/Aboriginal)

Mimi’s original songs are rich with her love of the Northern Ontario landscape she grew up with, and alive with her Aboriginal (Abenaki) roots as well as the music and traditions of her French Canadian heritage. Her voice belies her age (she’s a mere 20 years old) yet the subject matter, tunes and delivery suggest a much older, well-travelled woman, with the innocence of a child, an old soul playing new music.

Sunrise and Good People (SynchAudio) (Montreal, QC) (Electronic Tribal Rock, World)

The trio of Alain Mercure, Eric Bolduc and Xavier Auclair refined their sound textures and added beat samples to create what they call electronic-tribal-rock. Their 2009 debut album, RISE UP, featured three songs from the 2010 soundtrack of Lucidite Passagere nominated for Best Soundtrack at the 2011 Jutra. In 2011, the music video I WON’T FALL DOWN, a homage to Tibet, spread across the globe on Vimeo and YouTube. The Gemeaux award winning TV series Oui Surf featured five songs.
