The American Association of Independent Music (A2IM) is a non-profit organization that serves as the sole, unified voice representing a broad coalition of music labels from the independent music community in the United States. A sister organization to CIMA, A2IM works as a portal for its independent music label members to access opportunities for commerce, education and advocacy/lobbying. Held annually, A2IM Indie Week brings together these opportunities for the benefit of their label members, and are extending an exclusive, limited invitation to Canadian independent labels to participate!

This year, A2IM will be hosting their 10-year anniversary A2IM Indie Week 2015 in New York City from June 23-25, 2015. Last year, A2IM Indie Week attracted over 800 delegates - including A2IM members from 28 states as well as international guests from over a dozen countries! Some of the companies who attended last year's Indie Week were: 4AD, 8Tracks, AIM, Bandzoogle, Beggars Group, BMF Media, Google Play, IDLA, Kobalt Label Services, Merlin, MIDEM, MTV, NPR Music, PledgeMusic, Razoe & Tie, Rdio, Record Store Day, Shore Fire Media, SiriusXM Radio, Slacker, Spotify, The Orchard, VEVO and YouTube, among many others.

CIMA is pleased to announce that we will be joining A2IM's Indie Week 2015 and organizing a business development mission to NYC for Canadian independent music companies. This mission will take place from June 23-25, 2015 and is an excellent opportunity for labels and managers to network with key international contacts across a variety of industries.

Last year's Indie Week schedule can be found here - and it included panels on neighbouring rights, metadata, streaming services, as well as one-on-one sessions with marketing, digital revenues and synch licensing companies.

The scheduled conference activities for Indie Week 2015 include:

  • custom, executive one-on-one sessions with streaming platforms, digital marketing services, music supervisors, royalty accounting services, and more.
  • networking areas and receptions
  • panels to help you learn how to run your business better,
  • and roundtable discussions.

CIMA is currently looking for 10 delegates (from different companies) to join our mission to A2IM Indie Week 2015. This opportunity is best suited to record labels. Please note that this opportunity is only open to CIMA members in good standing, and registrations are limited to 1 delegate per company.

Cost: The cost associated with this opportunity is $500 CDN per delegate.
