September 4, 2014, Toronto – CIMA and Music Export Canada are heading back to Australia this September for their second annual mission to BIGSOUND in Brisbane, once again presenting Canadian Blast showcases, networking events, b2b opportunities and the HOORAY FOR CANADA! panel.

Four incredible Canadian acts on the brink (Buckman Coe, Jordan Klassen, July Talk & Mise En Scene) join the mission to perform Canadian Blast showcases at Alhambra Lounge for Australian and international music industry delegates, buyers and tastemakers in Brisbane for BIGSOUND.

To pave the road to Canadian Blast at BIGSOUND, and to make the most of the trip Down Under, the Canadian delegation will make a pit stop at the Ding Dong Lounge in Melbourne on September 8 for more showcasing, to meet with local industry and to connect with new fans. Joining CIMA on the mission is longtime Canadian Blast partner, Canadian Music Week, whose 2015 festival edition features Australia as the spotlight country.

The Canadian Independent Music Association (CIMA) is the national trade association representing the English-language, Canadian-owned sector of the independent music industry. CIMA works proactively to assist the independent sector to expand business opportunities and partnerships in the international marketplace by providing strategic support for Canadian companies at trade missions, key international trade shows, and conferences around the world. /

Now in its 32nd year, Canadian Music Week (CMW) is recognized as one of the premier entertainment events in North America. Combining conferences, a trade exhibition, award shows and film and comedy festivals with Canada’s biggest new music festival, CMW spans 5 nights of performances, with 1,000 showcasing bands at more than 60 live music venues in downtown Toronto.

BUCKMAN COE - Bridging the worlds of roots, soul, and reggae, Buckman Coe is a passionate believer in the power of music to shape our future. His sun-kissed folk-reggae, gospel-tinged soul and intoxicating world-beat melodies all play a part in providing the sonic platform for Coe’s socially conscious lyrics.

JORDAN KLASSEN is a leader of the Peter Pan generation: a comforting voice for the lost twenty-somethings of the new millennium. A seasoned songwriter from Vancouver, Canada, Klassen views the world through a beautifully kaleidoscopic lens, watching life’s splendours crash into the darkness. But with his pen as his greatest weapon, Klassen was given the strength to find the light.

JULY TALK - With their sleek yet gritty brand of alt-bluesy garage rock, Toronto-based five-piece July Talk create rock and roll that’s both boldly intimate and wildly confrontational. Each track in the band’s repertoire is a conversation in song form, with singers Peter Dreimanis and Leah Fay trading lines in a lyrical face-off that is at times hot-tempered and tender, reckless and poetic.

MISE EN SCENE - Substance. Sincerity. Swagger. Reverb. All are abundant throughout the nine tracks comprising Desire’s Despair, the debut full-length from indie rock/pop pair Mise en Scene. The record, produced by the super-team of Howard Bilerman (Arcade Fire), Howard Redekopp (Tegan and Sara), and Tony Berg (Beck) is poised to propel this boisterous x-chromosome-only duo to a new plateau.
