On Thursday, February 9, CIMA returned to Los Angeles to present the 10th edition of our Pre-Grammy® Showcase “Canada at The GRAMMYS® ”.

In partnership with SOCAN, FACTOR, The Government of Canada and the Canadian Consulate General in Los Angeles, the event was designed to celebrate the 59th edition of the GRAMMY Awards® as well as highlight great Canadian musical talent to key industry and media representatives in Los Angeles.

Events got underway on Wednesday afternoon with a business-networking luncheon for the Canadian representatives who were in town for the Grammy® events. These Canadian representatives had the opportunity to meet with US music supervisors nominated for Grammy® and/or Guild of Music Supervisors awards.

CIMA’s showcasing event took place on Thursday evening from 8:00PM-11:00PM. This was a particularly exciting year, as new partners joined us for our long-standing Canadian Pre-Grammy® event. Working alongside these partners, we changed locations and held the event at an exclusive new club in West Hollywood where guests received the full VIP treatment. To uphold the secretiveness of the No Name club, photographs were not permitted but a step and repeat was set up on the red carpet inside where guests had the chance to get their photo taken with a real Canadian Mountie.

Four Canadian artists/bands were featured this year including two emerging indie acts Donovan Woods (Paquin Artists Management) and Caveboy (The Rempire). Their sets were followed by Polaris prize winner Kaytranada who headlined and concluded with a DJ set by Grammy® nominee DJ BOI-1DA.

The event was at full capacity throughout the entire evening with hundreds of guests from the Los Angeles music, film and television industry. This was accessible strictly on an exclusive, invitation-only basis.

CIMA gratefully acknowledges and thanks our generous sponsors and partners: Canadian Music Week (CMW), Corus Entertainment, the Foundation Assisting Canadian Talent on Recordings (FACTOR), the Government of Canada (through the Canada Music Fund), Harvard Broadcasting, Ontario Media Development Corporation (OMDC), the Radio Starmaker Fund, the Alliance of Canadian Cinema, Television and Radio Artists (ACTRA), the Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada (SOCAN), Canadian Music Publishers Association (CMPA) and Stingray Music.
