Get your travel schedules ready!

CIMA has a busy year of export events coming up which include key missions to the United States (Los Angeles, Nashville, New York, Kansas City and San Francisco), Europe (UK, Germany, Rotterdam, Bremen and Poland), Latin America (Chile), Australia (Sydney), Asia (Japan); while support trade conferences in Canada (Toronto, Halifax and Montreal), to name a few. Last year CIMA’s 20 exporting initiatives targeted 16 cities in 8 countries worldwide and directly programmed 119 artists in official Canadian Blast showcases will supporting 161 Canadian music companies at international conferences, events and trade missions.

CIMA will be kicking off the New Year in Los Angeles with a private synch mission in January and our annual pre-Grammy showcase event in February. Other potential showcase series may take place in Los Angeles throughout the year, so if you are planning to be in the area and want to participate in a cost sharing curated showcase with CIMA, please contact our Music Export Manager Trisha Carter (trisha@cimamusic.ca or 416-485-3152 ext 222).

Potential new missions on the horizon include a business trade mission to San Francisco, where CIMA will tackle the relationship between music and tech, the bi-annual Japan Mission which will include new elements and festivals partners in 2017 as well a mission to Latin America, following a successful export study, which will include Chile and possible festival opportunities in Brazil and Argentina.

CIMA will continue our relationship with genre-based festivals including Folk Alliance International (folk), New Skool Rules (hip-hop, RNB), Jazzahead (jazz) Americana Music Festival & Conference (roots, blues, country, folk) and WOMEX (world, jazz, folk).

CIMA’s Music Export Office is always looking to help you expand your businesses in international markets by helping to create opportunities at existing festivals or private missions. The details of these missions are not yet set in stone, so please check back to CIMA’s event section for updates.

CIMA would like to thank our partners Canadian Music Week (CMW), Corus Entertainment, the Foundation Assisting Canadian Talent on Recordings (FACTOR), the Government of Canada (through the Canada Music Fund), Global Affairs Canada (through the GOA program), Harvard Broadcasting, Ontario Media Development Corporation (OMDC), the Radio Starmaker Fund, Stingray Music and the Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada (SOCAN), without whom we would be unable to offer these great opportunities.
