brian_chater_small_photoLast Monday, friends, colleagues and family of former CIMA President Brian Chater gathered at the Rose & Crown pub in Toronto to celebrate his life, as well as his devotion and commitment to the independent music industry in Canada.

A variety of Brian’s friends and former colleagues spoke throughout the evening, including Duff Roman (broadcaster, former President & Director of FACTOR and founding member), Michael Rock (former GM of SOCAN), Catherine Saxberg (Executive Director CMPA), Bernie Finkelstein (Finkelstein Management, and former Chair of CIMA), Al Mair (MHL Communications and former CIMA director) and Larry Leblanc (journalist/writer).

The stories, memories and observations that were shared painted a rich portrait of Brian’s lasting influence and dedication to the Canadian music industry.

The celebration did much to confirm that Brian will be missed greatly by the entire Canadian music industry, and in particular his friends and “family” here at CIMA.
