October 16th at Arlene’s Grocery

New York, October 9, 2013 – – Thousands of bodies are set to converge and incite an excited frenzy in New York City this October for the annual CMJ Music Festival. Music fans will be treated to a plethora of the best and brightest up-and-coming artists from around the world and, once again, Canada will be at the forefront with the highly anticipated Canadian Blast. Now in its seventh year, The Canadian Blast lineup features the most exciting talent heating up the great white north; this is definitely a ‘must attend’ for industry and music fans alike! Make sure your schedule includes some time at Arlene’s Grocery (95 Stanton St.) on October 16!

Ben Caplan @ 7pm: Fuelled by a quality of melodrama and powerful lyricism, the romance and bravery in his voice gives Caplan a truly innovative and experimental artistry.

Bear Mountain @ 8pm: Bear Mountain is an electronic dance band from Vancouver, B.C. Stirring and soulful, they blend syncopated bass lines and arpeggiated synth chords with live instrumentation and soaring vocals to create a sound that is both deeply moving, and sweetly captivating.

Born Gold @ 9pm: Born Gold is the high-energy, futuristic noise-pop project of pop experimentalist Cecil Frena. Caught in a highly idiosyncratic dialogue between harsh noise, future-leaning electronic music, indie rock signifiers and mainstream pop, Born Gold conjures stuttering, blown-out and chopped guitar peals, erratic, bubbling synth arpeggios, crunked-out, sparkling 808 hats and bursts of meticulously processed digital noise. Oh, and hooks, hooks, hooks.

Courage My Love @ 10pm:  Courage My Love is a pop/punk rock trio consisting of twin sisters Mercedes (vocals/guitar) & Phoenix (drums/vocals) and Brandon (bass) from Kitchener, Canada. Alternative Press Magazine named them as one of "100 Bands You Need To Know". Their 'Becoming' EP is now out on Warner Music.

The Motorleague @ 11pm: Be it a blistering single-string guitar riff or a bludgeoning smash to the snare drum, The Motorleague delivers its punk-influenced, hard rock with an unrelenting urgency from start to finish.
