Only four days are left until the 56th annual GRAMMY awards, and this year is already shaping up to be one of the most Canadian GRAMMY Sundays in recent memory. With Drake, Neil Young, Robin Thicke, Michael Buble and other Canadian musical icons nominated in top categories, Canada has a lot to look forward to at Sunday’s award ceremony.

With such a large Canadian presence at the awards themselves, it’s a particularly important year for CIMA’s annual GRAMMY-week showcase, held at the Canadian consulate in Los Angeles. This event is designed to celebrate the 56th anniversary of the GRAMMY Awards, as well as highlight Canadian talent to key industry and media representatives in town for the prestigious award ceremonies.

This year’s star-studded GRAMMY-week showcase lineup is hosted by none-other than celebrated Canadian actor and songwriter Alan Thicke, whose son is nominated for record of the year, best pop performance and best pop album.

Through our Canadian Blast export brand, CIMA works on behalf of the Canadian music industry to expand business opportunities in international markets. Events like our GRAMMY Showcase will allow the Canadian industry to make inroads in the crucial Los Angeles market, as well as in others that have representatives in town for the GRAMMYs.

If you're a CIMA member, please let us know if you will be doing business in Los Angeles Grammy week. The Showcase and Celebration will be held on January 23rd at the Official Residence of the Consul General for Canada (Los Angeles) and will feature recognized emerging Canadian artists performing for invited guests. This event is strictly by invitation only. Please contact donna@cimamusic.ca for more information.
