Topic:

The Canadian Independent Music Association will be offering a series of exclusive “CIMA Member” only virtual roundtable sessions in which music industry professionals will have the opportunity to communicate candidly and share their experiences related to the featured topics.

This week’s discussion will focus on navigating the world of paid and non-paid live-streams. The roundtable will be led by the CEO and founder of Six Shooter Records Shauna de Cartier.

A note from our host Shauna:

Since the lockdown, our entire industry has been hyper focused on live-streams. I don’t know about you, but I’m drowning in “opportunities for exposure,” while trying to stay on top of all the technical innovation in this realm, as well as negotiating the complicated legal landscape of live-streaming music. Right now, this is where the money is, and further opportunities through marketing, ticketing, streaming, broadcasting, and sponsorship are being brainstormed and created very quickly. The hiatus on live touring is likely going to be a lot longer than any of us hoped for, so it is paramount to develop not just a short-term strategy for live-streams, but a medium-term strategy as well.

I want to talk to my peers about their experiences and insights, so please come prepared to talk as well as listen! We’ve limited the capacity of this session to encourage a fulsome discussion from all the participants.

This session is strictly limited to 30 participants. If you have any questions please contact CIMA’s Industry Development and Membership Coordinator Sam Rayner at samr@cimamusic.ca
