CIMA will be organizing a business & showcasing mission to Rotterdam, Netherlands for the 2024 edition of New Skool Rules from May 31 to June 2. New Skool Rules is a 3-day international music festival and conference showcasing Rap, Hip Hop, R&B, Reggae, and more which includes seminars, showcases, B2B events, networking, and much more. This is an opportunity to connect urban music professionals from around the world and to offer opportunities for artists to grow their network and exchange ideas.

Businesses who do not have a showcasing artist but who are interested in attending can contact Jenia Schukov (jenia@cimamusic.ca) for more information.

The deadline to apply for showcasing is January 31, 2024 – please do this directly through New Skool Rules.

Who is eligible to showcase? Canadian artists and bands who:

• Perform Hip Hop, Rap, R&B, Soul, Reggae, or other genres identified by New Skool Rules.
• Showcasing acts must be accompanied by a business representative as our export missions are centred on creating business opportunities. Artists can be self-represented.
• All showcasing artist submissions will be reviewed by the New Skool Rules selection team.
• Preference will be given to CIMA and MusicOntario members, however, this opportunity is open to all.
• Please note: we encourage you to apply for any travel/showcase funding opportunities as soon as possible. CIMA is not a funding body and does not issue grants.

• Artists will get the opportunity to showcase in front of key tastemakers and industry professionals interested in the Urban genres.
• CIMA and MusicOntario members and mission participants receive a discounted member rate on delegate registration.
• Participation in business events (networking receptions, one on one meetings, panels etc)
• Artists will receive showcasing promotion through both CIMA and New Skool Rules across social media platforms, websites, e-blasts and on-site signage.

Registration Information & Mission Fees:

There will be a cost associated with participating in the Showcase and Business mission. CIMA members will receive a preferred rate. More details to follow.
