Winners Announced for the 2014 Canadian Music and Broadcast Industry Awards

CMusicandBroadcast Industry Awards

TORONTO, ON – May 8, 2014) Canadian Music Week is excited to announce the 2014 winners of the Canadian Music and Broadcast Industry Awards. Recognition across more than 40 categories was bestowed tonight among industry organizations and professionals at Toronto’s Kool Haus. Award winners this evening included Toronto’s CHUM-FM for Station of the Year (Hot AC), Montreal’s Osheaga for Festival of the Year, and The Agency Group for Booking Agency of the Year. The Canadian Music and Broadcast Industry Awards are presented to individuals and organizations that have made a significant contribution to the Canadian music industry in the past year.

Host Tom Green provided comic relief with an endless supply of witty one-liners and playful jabs in between awards, speeches, and impressive performances by Nikki Yanofsky and 2014 Canadian Music Industry Hall of Fame inductee Tom Cochrane. Attic Records founder Alexander Mair joined Cochrane as a Canadian Music Industry Hall of Fame honouree this evening, while Past President and CEO of Astral Ian Greenberg was inducted into the Canadian Broadcast Industry Hall of Fame. As well, two longstanding industry figures were honoured at tonight’s event with special awards in recognition of their years of service; Canadian folk icon Bruce Cockburn received the Allan Slaight Humanitarian Spirit Award and Rogers Media’s Paul Ski was named recipient of the Allan Waters Broadcast Lifetime Achievement Award.
