A few weeks ago, CIMA, in partnership with our colleagues at Music Canada, ADISQ and the CCMIA issued a joint release in support of Re:Sound's application for judicial review of the Tariff 8 decision. We believe that the music community needs a strong, unified voice on this issue to make it clear to the government that the webcasting rates set out in Tariff 8 are unacceptable, and we've been able to bring together record labels (both major and independent), music industry associations as well as the Canadian Federation of Musicians to sign onto our joint statement.

But, our advocacy efforts can't stop there. We still need your help to make sure that the government hears our message loud and clear.

We've just launched a Facebook page called I Stand For Music, which is a forum to voice your opposition to the Tariff 8 webcasting rates - you can view and "like" it by clicking here! On it, you'll find regular updates on Tariff 8, a link to a backgrounder on what it all means, as well as access to an ever-growing list of music companies across the country that are signing onto this initiative! Once you've "liked" the page, feel free to comment and share your perspective!

We're also active on Twitter using the hashtags: #tariff 8 and #IStand4Music to keep the conversation going.
