CIMA is excited to partner with the ECMA and BreakOut West at the second edition of Australian Music Week in New South Wales in Australia this week from November 2-4, 2016 for a Canadian Blast Reception and Showcase.
Following the success of CIMA's 2015 Pilot Synch Mission to Los Angeles, we will be staging a second mission to connect the Canadian independent music industry to synch opportunities in television and streaming media in the USA.
On November 2, Paquin Artists Agency (PAA) announced that under agent Aaron Schubert, their new comedy division will include acclaimed comics and radio program hosts. Schubert is also responsible for opening the agency's third office, in Vancouver, BC.
CIMA will once again be producing the Canada Stand at jazzahead! April 27-30 in Bremen, Germany. We will also be having a showcase. If you’re interested in being part of the Canada Stand, it’s $400 for CIMA members and $600 for non. To showcase at jazzahead!, you must apply through a co-exhibitor like the Canada Stand (Stand 6C08).
Alert for Canadian musicians working in the US: Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has announced a substantial increase to I-129 filing fees for petitions postmarked on or after December 23, 2016. The fee for U.S. work permits (all P's & O's) has been increased.
Eight winning albums for the Slaight Polaris Heritage Prize have been announced. Two winners were chosen to represent each Canadian musical era (1960-75, 1976-85, 1986-95, 1996-2005), as curated by Canadian music historians and members of the media.
