Jeffrey Remedios Named President and CEO of Universal Music Canada

Jeffrey Remedios, co-founder of Arts & Crafts and CIMA Vice-Chair, has been announced as the new President and CEO of Universal Music Canada, effective September 21. He succeeds outgoing President and CEO Randy Lennox, who has accepted a new role as President of Entertainment Production and Broadcasting at Bell Media.

Remedios co-founded Arts & Crafts in 2003 after the release of Broken Social Scene’s album You Forgot It in People, and oversees all aspects of the company’s business, helping build a global operation with offices in Toronto, Los Angeles and Mexico City. Arts & Crafts is a record label and music-focused artist services company that offers artist management, merchandising and publishing services.  He also founded Field Trip, Toronto’s community music and arts festival. Besides serving on the CIMA Board of Directors as Vice-Chair, Remedios also served as the Chairman of FACTOR, as well as serving on the boards of CARAS and TMAC (Toronto Music Advisory Council).

With Jeffrey’s departure, Kieran Roy (co-owner, General Manager and VP of Arts & Crafts) steps into the position of President, while Heidi Krohnert will take over as General Manager and Matt Brown has been appointed as VP of Finance & Operations. A warm congratulations to all on their new roles, and we look forward to continuing to work with this new executive team.

“On behalf of my team, my Board of Directors and CIMA’s members, I would like to thank Jeffrey for his tireless work in support of Canada’s indie sector over the years. Having built Arts & Crafts from the ground up into a genuine success story, he truly demonstrates what it means to have an entrepreneurial spirit. We will certainly miss Jeffrey’s advice and wisdom at the CIMA board table. But we do wish Jeffrey every success in his new position, and we look forward to continuing to work with Jeffrey in his new role at Universal Music Canada.

On behalf of CIMA, we’d also like to extend warm congratulations to outgoing Universal CEO and President Randy Lennox, and we look forward to working with him at Bell Media.
