For the second year running, Merlin, the global rights agency for the independent label sector, will be reducing its administrative fees resulting from commercial deals for both members and non-members.

As of July 1, 2014, the administrative fees relating to commercial deals have been reduced from 3% to 2.5%. This represents an almost 17% reduction on Merlin's previous rates.

Commercial deals are the deals that Merlin does on behalf of its members with digital services like Spotify, Rdio, Deezer, YouTube, etc. You can find more about what Merlin does here.

CIMA members have access to these discounted rates on administrative fees because of CIMA's membership to WIN.

You can consult Merlin's release here, which also includes information about administrative fees for commercial deals involving non-members.
