Looking to start your own indie music business? Unsure where to begin and how to navigate the business world? Join our group of successful panelists as they discuss the opportunities and challenges faced by entrepreneurs in the ever-changing music industry, as well as key advice on what it takes to follow in their footsteps. From music management, indie labels, and professional musicians, we’ll cover all perspectives in this casual info session.

This panel is part of a wider workshop series of Lunch & Learns, where six key topics will be discussed over monthly sessions. Keep an eye out for more info on the upcoming events.

Diane Davy, the Executive Director of WorkInCulture (WIC), brings to the role over 25 years’ of senior level expertise in the arts and culture sector. In her consulting practice she specializes in the business-side of the creative community, working with both for-profit and non-profit enterprises. Her areas of focus include strategic business planning, organizational structure and management, marketing strategies, revenue generation, board governance, policy development and other related topics. She has hands-on experience in developing and delivering skills training and is a firm believer in the importance of lifelong learning for all.

Beverly Moore is Managing Director of More Music Management Ltd. providing services in artist management, career development, artist promotionsperformances, interactive digital advertising and business management with business advisory and consulting services in marketing, tax planning, grant and loan proposals, tour and publishing administration. Tim Potocic is co-owner and president of Sonic Unyon Records in Hamilton, including inhouse labels Sonic Unyon records, Sonic Unyon Metal and Goodfellow Records. Potocic has sat on the boards of CIRPA and CARAS and has enjoyed a Canadian Music Industry Award for label of the year, a Hamilton Entrepreneur of the Year award, and having several of his artists acquire Juno nominations. Potocic currently sits on the boards of CIMA, Downtown Hamilton BIA, Hamilton ArtsCouncil and the Cobalt Arts Service organization.
