For CIMA members attending Canadian Music Week, here are important information sessions, panels and receptions you may not want to miss at the International Marketplace (IMP) during the Music Summit!

The IMP is located in Osgoode Ballroom West (downstairs) at the Sheraton Centre Hotel.

MIDEM (June 2015): Information Session

Where: IMP (Osgoode West) during CMW

When: Friday, May 8 2015, 12:30pm – 1:30pm

What: Information session about MIDEM (Marché International du Disque et de l’Edition Musicale)  in Cannes, France (www.midem.com)

Find out why you should be attending MIDEM 2015 and everything you need to know about this key music marketplace. For those of you who have registered already, here is your chance to discover how to make MIDEM work for you. This session will be presented by Marc Pelletier, North American Director of Sales and Business and a key member of the Reed MIDEM team.

What: Information session about Japan and CIMA’s upcoming Fall Mission (week of November 16-20) to Tokyo. More details coming soon!

Sebastian Mair (JAPAN) – Born and raised in Toronto, Sebastian started his music industry career in Canada before relocating to Tokyo in 1996. Since that time and co-founding Music Solutions (Hong Kong-Macau / Tokyo), he has been a fixture in the Japanese music industry, consulting for a who’s who of the industry including Rdio, AEG Live, JVC/Victor Entertainment, Live Nation (Japan), Rock Star Touring Artists, Fujipacific Music, Maple Music, Chris Smith Management, Roadrunner Records, Syn Entertainment, Export Music Sweden, Rykodisc, etc.. He was also previously a Cultural Officer at the Embassy of Canada from 2007-2012. On top of that, he’s often a music supervisor for film, television and DVD projects as well as numerous music compilations (Starbucks, Hilton Hotels, Starwood Hotels, etc.) .

PANEL: Northern Exposure: Canadian Market Overview

Where: IMP Osgoode West during CMW

When: Wednesday, May 6, 2015, 4:00pm – 5:00pm

What: Canadians have an insatiable appetite for new music – their own and everybody else’s. And the profit potential of that demand is the theme of this session, tailored to help our international delegates tap into one of the world’s most vibrant music markets. Our foreign guests will get invaluable insight into our spending habits, the economics of cultural diversity and the demand for digital media. They’ll also get a quick primer on government’s role in the music industry, with an emphasis on building bridges with Canadian exporters.
