March 10, 2015 – The Board of Directors of the Canadian Arts Presenting Association (CAPACOA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Sue Urquhart as Executive Director, effective May 1, 2015.
“It has been a long and rigorous search, and the Board and I are thrilled with the results”, said Board President, Paul Gravett. “Sue brings a wealth of experience through her leadership of not-for-profit organizations and working alongside government agencies. She has overseen considerable growth and has spearheaded exciting new projects.”
Sue brings to CAPACOA more than 20 years of experience from a wide range of management positions in the performing arts. Most recently Sue was the Director of Programming for PEI 2014 Inc., the organization responsible for the planning, promotion and implementation of the sesquicentennial celebrations for that province. She was the first Executive Director of both the Atlantic Presenters Association, the regional presenting network of Atlantic Canada, and the Indian River Festival, a highly successful classical music festival in rural Prince Edward Island.
“CAPACOA is at an exciting place in its history and the opportunity to build upon our past and take some bold steps forward is a privilege. I will work passionately with the dedicated and knowledgeable staff and board to raise our profile, enhance our role in the arts community, and to contribute to the continuation and expansion of the rich and vital work of this organization,” said Sue Urquhart.
Gravett adds, “Of course, as the former executive director of Atlantic Presenters Association, Sue knows our sector very well and, in fact, is familiar to many of CAPACOA’s members. The Board is particularly excited to know that, in Sue, we have someone who is dedicated to continuing CAPACOA’s growth and direction and to furthering its position as a leader in Canada’s performing arts sector.”
On behalf of CIMA and MusicOntario, we extend a warm welcome to Sue!
