Canadian Folk Music Awards: Early Deadline – April 30

Submissions for the 12th Canadian Folk Music Awards are now open. Any Canadian artist can apply who released an album in Canada between June 15, 2015 and June 14, 2016.

The earlybird deadline is Saturday, April 30, 2016. (CFMA’s final deadline for submissions is June 30.)

The 2016 Awards are organized by Canada’s internationally-recognized folk music community. This year, 20 categories are up for grabs, consisting of five nominees each.

In 2016, CFMA will also present the Unsung Hero Award, a legacy category honouring artists with little mainstream recognition who nevertheless made exceptional contributions to Canadian Folk.

Winners are selected through a three-stage jury process, with votes cast by 100 jurors across all Canadian territories and provinces.

The 12th edition of CFMA is scheduled for December 2nd and 3rd, 2016 in Toronto. Several nominees will perform at this year’s ceremonies. The final gala awards take place at Isabel Bader Theatre on Saturday, December 3, 2016. Nominations can be submitted online at folkawards.ca.
