Canadian Folk Music Awards 2014: Nominations for the Unsung Hero Award now open!

This year’s Canadian Folk Music Awards are going to be held in Ottawa from November 27-29, 2014, while the nominees will be unveiled at a press conference on September 24, 2014. 

Nominations are now open for the Unsung Hero award at the CFMAs, with the winner being announced in late October following jury deliberations. The Unsung Hero award is an annual award “recognizing the exceptional contribution of an individual, group, or organization to any aspect of the Canadian folk music scene (performance, promotion, presentation, etc.).”

The criteria for the award is below:

  • Must be/have been active in the Canadian folk music scene and have been perceived as making an outstanding contribution.
  • Must be perceived as an “unsung hero”, someone who has received little in the way of recognition for their accomplishments.
