Arcade Fire Receive JUNO’s Allan Waters Humanitarian Award

At the 2016 JUNO Gala Dinner & Awards on April 2 in Calgary, Arcade Fire will be presented with this year’s Allan Waters Humanitarian Award. Sponsored by Bell Media, the Award recognizes artists who have positively enhanced the social fabric of Canada. It is named in honour of CHUM Ltd. founder Allan Waters.

Arcade Fire, who have earned eight JUNO Awards since forming in 2001, use their voice to spotlight many local, national and international charitable causes. They are known for bringing tremendous attention and resources to the non-profits they work with, including Partners in Health, an organization that provides high quality healthcare to the poorest parts of the world.

“It is an honour. We are very thankful,” said Régine Chassagne on behalf of the band. “It helps us continue the work.”

Arcade Fire’s 2013 release, Reflektor, hit #1 in the US, Canadian, Irish, UK Belgian and Portuguese Official Album Charts, as well as topping 40 national iTunes charts. The 45th Annual JUNO Awards and JUNO Week are held in Calgary between March 28 to April 3 this year. The Awards Broadcast will take place on CTV and CTV GO at 7pm ET / 8pm AT, Sunday, April 3.
