Applications Open: 2015 Unsigned Only Music Competition



The Unsigned Only Music Competition is now accepting entries for its 2015 competition – and this time around, some of the judges include: alt-J, Sinead O’Connor, Aimee Mann, Roseanne Cash, Kool and the Gang, Lucero, Robert Smith (The Cure), The Killers and many more!

The Unsigned Only Music Competition is a “unique music competition designed for solo artists, bands and singers all over the world who are not signed to a major label record company or any of its affiliates, subsidiaries, or imprints.”

So, what are they looking for, exactly? According to their website, the goal of Unsigned Only is to “find an outstanding, talented performer: a band, a singer, or solo artist.”

They’re accepting applications from interested, qualifying candidates in the following categories:

  • Adult Album Alternative
  • Adult Contemporary
  • Americana
  • Christian
  • Country
  • Folk/Singer-Songwriter
  • R&B/Hip-Hop
  • Rock
  • Pop/Top 40
  • Screen Shot
  • Teen
  • Vocal Performance


Winners can expect to receive:

Grand Prize Winner: $10,000 in cash + additional prizes, 1-on-1 mentoring by an elite group of record company executives.

First Place Winners in each category: $1,000 + plus other prizes.

Second Place Winners in each category: prizes.
