Canadian Blast is the business development brand under which CIMA promotes Canadian independent music in the US, UK-Europe, South Asia and other emerging markets.
These international events provide global, collective, multi-faceted marketing opportunities which individual companies and artists would be unable to undertake on their own.
Last year, Canadian Blast participants secured over $4 million dollars in potential deals for licensing, publishing, touring and distribution in the past year.
MIDEM takes place every year in Cannes, France. It brings together music industry trendsetters and decision makers from across the globe. In a post-event survey for the 2013 Canadian Blast at MIDEM, delegates reported:
- 1300 downloads of digital sampler
- 572 meetings
- 553 new contacts/leads
- 149 deals finalized or in negotiation in areas of licensing, distribution, touring & publishing
- $2.4 million (CDN) of potential value
Canadian Blast initiatives
We have a range of initiatives we select from depending on each market.
Canada Stand at international music industry trade shows serves as home base for registered Canadian companies (MIDEM, SXSW)
Canadian Blast Showcases are multi-band performances by Canadians at trade shows, festivals and conferences across the world (Canada House venues, Canadian Blast BBQ)
Canadian Blast Music Missions in partnership with Canadian Embassies, these mini-tours open up new global markets, strengthening current ties, and create ‘deal-making’ opportunities for Canadian music products and artists.
CanadianBlast.com is the online hub for all our Canadian Blast initiatives, providing support for all the promotional activities, with contact information for every attendee.
To achieve the best results for each initiative, CIMA organizes and provides key promotional support.
B2B Opportunities – High-potential business networking ‘mixers’, ‘speed-networking’ and ‘round tables’ that provide direct interaction with international music business reps, and seminars featuring local market representatives.
Full-colour booklets featuring profiles of registered companies and artists.
Promo material including postcards, flyers and posters promoting Canadian Blast Showcases.
Digital marketing including free digital samplers, companies/performer profiles via CanadianBlast.com and mobile app.
Press and promotion using local PR firms to distribute press releases to media and music industry – including translation services where required
Post-event analysis following every Canadian Blast event, delegates are surveyed and data is gathered to track business successes and lay the foundation for continued funding and support.
